A Kwa look is not a gown look in a different dress
Heavily embroidered red and gold changes everything about the face. Colours that flatter a white gown can look washed out against a Kwa, and the high collar frames the jaw and neck differently. Kwa makeup is built with a little more warmth and structure so your features hold their own against the embroidery, while the skin stays soft enough for close family photos at the tea ceremony.
The hair is just as specific. Kwa and Siu Ho usually call for a sleek, secure updo that can carry tassel pins, phoenix hairpieces or a family heirloom. Hair accessories and earrings suited to the outfit are provided; if your family has a piece they want you to wear, bring it and I'll style around it.
Planning around the Chinese wedding day
A traditional day often runs like this. I time the makeup to it, not the other way round.

Before the wedding: 过大礼 and the trial
过大礼 (Guo Da Li, the betrothal gift day) usually falls a few weeks before the wedding and is when many families finalise the big-day timings, including the auspicious hour for the gatecrash. That's the right moment to send me your timeline.
A trial one to two months before the wedding, wearing or bringing your Kwa, lets us settle colours and hair ornament placement together.
